Jury seats Clintonville man accused of killing his mother

CLINTONVILLE, Wis. (WBAY) – A jury has been seated in the case of a Clintonville man accused of stabbing his mother to death.

Jordan Peters, 20, appeared in court Wednesday as the jury was selected and opening statements were read.

Prosecutors say Peters and his mother were in the car when the stabbing happened, and he allegedly told investigators that he was angry and had reached a “breaking point.”

He faces one count of first-degree intentional homicide.

The trial is expected to last two weeks.

PREVIOUS: A young man is charged with stabbing his mother. According to a probable cause statement, Jordan Peters admitted to killing his mother and said he had been planning to do so for about a week.

The probable cause statement also states that before her death, the mother stated that her son stabbed her.

The state wants Peters held on a $1 million bond. He is expected to be arraigned in court on Monday in connection with the fatal stabbing.

A 19-year-old Neenah man is charged on suspicion of first-degree premeditated murder after a 39-year-old woman died of stab wounds in Clintonville.

The Clintonville Police Chief says the victim and Jordan Peters were traveling in a car together on Memorial Circle and visiting the area when Peters stabbed the woman in the chest. She was able to stop the car and get out.

A person believed they witnessed a drug overdose and called police. Officers found her on the ground with stab wounds. She was transported by helicopter to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah, where she was later pronounced dead.

Clintonville police said officers quickly identified Peters, who was still at the scene, as a suspect. He did not resist arrest and was taken to the Waupaca County Jail. Police declined to discuss his relationship with the victim.

It was Clintonville’s first homicide since 2016, the police chief said.

Officials say the victim’s name has not been released and the investigation is ongoing.
