Vancouver police release footage of a standoff that ended with an officer shooting a suspect

VANCOUVER Washington (KPTV) – Vancouver police released body camera and drone footage Wednesday from a fatal officer-involved shooting at a home in Clark County last month.

On September 27, a Vancouver Police tactical unit responded to a home on Northeast 71st Street to assist the Clark County Sheriff’s Office with a disturbance call.

Investigators said Michael Williams was heavily armed in the home. Officials said Williams fired several shots at a police vehicle, shattering its windshield.

A second suspect turned himself in Wednesday after the knife attack that left an off-duty postal worker dead.

Shortly thereafter, a police sniper spotted Williams near the back door of his home and armed with a rifle.

That officer shot Williams.

Officials then flew a drone into the house to ensure security. The video captured showed several firearms and a large amount of ammunition in an upstairs bedroom, as well as a rifle with a scope lying on a table and aimed at the front window.

No one else was injured and the officer who fired his weapon, Cameron McAnally, is now on major accident leave.

An independent investigation is being conducted by the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office.
