Houston’s final election results are on hold as a recount is considered

HOUSTON Alaska (KTUU) – Houston’s final election results have been put on hold as the city waits to see whether a possible recount will be required for a City Council seat.

Houston city officials confirmed to Alaska’s News Source on Wednesday that Callie Courtney, a candidate for Seat G, has filed to challenge the election results.

Under city law, a candidate can challenge the election results if he or she believes that “misconduct, fraud or corruption on the part of an election official is sufficient to change the outcome of the election.”

The city also says the situation is now in the hands of the city’s legal team and Courtney’s legal team.

Alaska’s News Source reached out to Courtney for comment, who said she would “agree with my attorney” before providing further response.

The city was unable to provide further answers to Alaska’s News Source about when the election will be certified.
