Anne Hathaway apologizes to reporter for ‘cringe’ interview

Anne Hathaway has apologized after being criticized online for a resurfaced clip of an awkward 2012 interview with journalist Kjersti Flaa.

“I received an email yesterday. “It was from Anne Hathaway’s publicist and he forwarded me a message from Anne Hathaway,” Flaa said in an uploaded YouTube video Tuesday. “I have to say I was pretty shocked. I didn’t expect her to even reach out to me. I thought she would never see this video. But she did. And she did something pretty amazing.”

In the video, Flaa, a Norwegian entertainment journalist, said that the “The Devil Wears Prada” star sent her a “long email” to explain “what she was going through at the time” and apologized for it. that she “told” Flaa – in Flaa’s words. Basically a terrible interview.”

Flaa made headlines this summer when she said she almost quit her job after a “nightmare” interview with Blake Lively in 2016. Last week, she published a look back at a 2012 interview with Hathaway during a press tour for “Les Misérables,” the film for which Hathaway would eventually win an Oscar for best supporting actress.

As seen in the Original material After her interview, Flaa began her conversation the same way she opens all of her interviews with the musical’s stars – by light-heartedly asking Hathaway if she would answer her first question in the form of a song.

“Can I sing? [the question] to you, and you can sing the answer back?” Flaa said, laughing.

Hathaway declined. “Well, I won’t do that,” she said, “but you’re welcome to sing.”

As the interview continued, Flaa Hathaway asked questions like “Do you remember your first crush?” and whether she believed “love was more passionate” at the time in which “Les Misérables” was set.

Hathaway didn’t offer much, simply answering Flaa’s questions with “no” or “no, no.”

Last week, Remembers the interviewFlaa described it as a “first-rate shake-up” and her “worst interview idea ever.” She added that she felt Hathaway “really hated” her and was “annoyed” with her all the time.

However, the journalist said that she crossed paths with the Princess Diaries alum again and things were a little more amicable.

“Actually, I met Anne Hathaway after that,” Flaa said, “and she was very sweet…” I’m very happy that I had a better experience with her afterwards.”

Three days later, Flaa posted one Update on YouTube announcing that Hathaway had reached out to her with an apology, which she described as “so touching.”

“Just talking about it, I almost have tears in my eyes because I was just so grateful that she did that,” she said.

Flaa told viewers that she would not reveal the exact contents of Hathaway’s note because it was “very personal.”

“I just wanted to tell you what she did because I thought it was amazing,” she said.

Flaa said she wrote Hathaway back and thanked her for the mea culpa.

“I said, ‘If you ever want to sit down and talk about this, I’m here,’ and then she invited me to interview her for her next film coming out in May,” Flaa said. “It’s been a long time, I don’t have any concerns anymore.”

She also acknowledged a point that some YouTube commenters made in Hathaway’s defense, namely that press tours tend to be monotonous and tiring for actors – although Flaa pointed out that they can be tiring for journalists too.
