McHenry County coroner’s man found dead by Metra tracks in Cary – Shaw Local

The McHenry County Coroner’s Office identified a man found dead on Metra tracks in Cary on Sunday.

The coroner’s office said in a news release Wednesday that Jared Jacobs, 30, of Algonquin, was found between the northbound and southbound train tracks at the intersection of Algonquin Road and Northwest Highway in Cary.

Cary police responded to a call at the intersection on Sunday at 7:45 p.m. A Metra employee found the body on a train and called it, a Metra spokesman said. Scott Naydenoff, deputy chief of emergency services for the Cary Police Department, said police found a man Tuesday with “injuries consistent with being struck by a train.”

Preliminary results of an autopsy Tuesday showed Jacobs suffered “blunt trauma to the head,” but a final determination is pending, according to the medical examiner’s office. The office is working with the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, Cary Fire Protection District and Metra in the investigation.
