Two teenagers were arrested after they were caught in a stolen car, police said

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Two teenagers were taken into custody after they were caught getting into a stolen car in north Lincoln on Tuesday, police said.

Lincoln Police took a report of a red 2012 Kia Optima that had been stolen overnight in the area of ​​Portia and Knox streets.

Later that evening, investigators found the Kia unoccupied near 15th Street and Hilltop Road. While they were in the area, two men wearing gloves and masks got into the vehicle, police said.

Investigators attempted to make contact, but the suspects fled and a chase began. The suspects were arrested a short time later.

A 15-year-old male was reported for theft and paying $5,000 or more. He was also cited and released for obstructing a peace officer and leaving an accident without providing information.

A 14-year-old male was referred and released for disobeying a lawful order.
