Honda is recalling over a million cars due to steering problems that could lead to accidents

Honda has recalled more than one million 2022-2025 Acura and Honda vehicles due to a possible steering hazard.

The automaker said the steering box that controls the steering may have been manufactured incorrectly.

This can cause excessive internal friction, leading to difficulty steering and ultimately accidents.

“An improperly manufactured steering gear worm wheel can swell when exposed to ambient heat and moisture, reducing the thickness of the grease film between the worm wheel and worm wheel,” Honda said in a news release Wednesday.

Transmission defects can be identified by an unusual noise and a “sticky” feeling when trying to turn the steering wheel while driving, the automaker said. The recall affects 1,693,199 vehicles in 28 models.

Below is a list of recalled vehicles:

Acura models

  • 2023-2025 Acura Integra
  • 2024-2025 Acura Integra Type S

Honda models

  • 2022-2025 Honda Civic Sedan
  • 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid Sedan
  • 2022-2025 Honda Civic Hatchback
  • 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid Hatchback
  • 2023-2025 Honda Civic Type R

  • 2023-2025 Honda CR-V Hybrid
  • 2025 Honda CR-V fuel cell
