Fort Wayne man charged with attempted murder in Kendallville shooting

KENDALLVILLE, Ind. (WPTA) – A 23-year-old Fort Wayne man is charged with attempted murder following a shooting in Kendallville.

BACKGROUND: Arrest in connection with Saturday morning shooting in Kendallville

Police responded to the 1400 block of South Main Street in Kendallville on Saturday for reports of a shooting, according to an affidavit from Kendallville police Detective Angela Handshoe. There they found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound to the back of her head.

She had to be flown to Fort Wayne for emergency medical treatment

An hour later, police were alerted to a man walking shirtless along State Road 3, later identified as Blake Frederickson, court records show. Frederickson identified the victim to police and said they traveled together from Fort Wayne to Kendallville.

An argument broke out at a visitor’s home, which led to an altercation in the parking lot.

Frederickson allegedly said he then shot the victim and fled the scene on foot, court records show. He is currently being held in the Allen County Jail.
