Garth Brooks files sexual assault and assault lawsuit

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Garth Brooks has filed a lawsuit seeking relief after a former hairdresser and makeup artist accused him of sexual assault and battery.

Brooks’ lawsuit alleges that his accuser engaged in “ongoing attempts at extortion, defamation, false invasion of privacy, and intentional infliction of emotional distress through outrageous conduct, including the publication and threatened wider publication of false allegations of sexual misconduct, causing irreparable harm.” would.” [his] Reputation, family, career and livelihood”.

In the lawsuit, Brooks claims she defamed him by “intentionally” publishing her July 17 letter. He added that the publications were made in bad faith and with the aim of extorting an undue payment from the plaintiff.

Brooks is seeking a trial and a declaratory judgment that the allegations are untrue, as well as compensatory and punitive damages.

The accuser did not give her name and calls herself Jane Roe in the lawsuit filed last week in Los Angeles Superior Court.

In her lawsuit, she stated that she had worked for Brooks’ wife, country singer Trisha Yearwood, since 1999 and had also worked for Brooks since 2017.

She said the attack occurred while she was traveling from Nashville to Los Angeles with Brooks, who performed with soul singer Sam Moore at a Grammy Awards in October 2019 as a tribute to Moore.

Brooks firmly denied the allegations in a statement.

As Channel 5 turns 70, we remember the 1960s RnB showcase Night Train

When I was younger, people of my generation spent part of their weekends watching music shows like American Bandstand and Soul Train. This was before the age of music videos. A few years before Soul Train was syndicated out of Chicago, another syndicated R&B show was taped in Nashville on NewsChannel 5. Night Train aired in the ’60s and featured what may have been the first TV appearance of legendary guitarist Jimmy Hendrix. Forrest Sanders looks back at the station’s history.
