19-year-old, 44, stabbed during argument in Atlantic City: police

Jerry Martinez, 19, was arrested Sunday, Oct. 6, Atlantic City police said in a news release. Martinez was charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Officers responded to a stabbing in the 2500 block of Atlantic Avenue around 8:30 p.m. Police determined the 44-year-old Atlantic City man was suffering from a stab wound.

The police department’s surveillance center provided officers with a description of the suspect. Shortly thereafter, an officer found Martinez several blocks from the crime scene, identified him as a suspect and took him into custody.

Investigators said Martinez and the victim got into a “verbal argument” before the stabbing. He was being held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
