2 Thornton police officers were injured in an active shooter Wednesday morning

THORNTON, Colo. – Two Thornton police officers were injured in an active shooter incident near the intersection of E 160th Pl on Wednesday morning. and Columbine Street.

According to Thornton police, officers are receiving medical attention at the scene while shots continue to be fired at a home in that area.

We are working to learn more about the extent of her injuries and what triggered the shooting.

It started before 9 a.m. Wednesday in a neighborhood on E 160th Ave. and York Street.

Thornton Police are asking everyone to avoid the area.
