Shasta County prosecutor files charges in Jack in the Box shooting

The Shasta County District Attorney’s Office filed charges against Trevon Evanoff, 18, of Redding, California, in connection with a shooting that occurred six months ago at a Jack in the Box on Cypress Avenue.

Evanoff was arrested in March after investigators said he got into an argument with people in another car on the thoroughfare, got out of his vehicle and began shooting at them. Luckily no one was hit and the other car drove away.

The case remained stalled until yesterday, October 8, when the District Attorney’s Office announced the charges. According to prosecutors, Evanoff faces one count of attempted murder, two counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, one count of possessing a concealed firearm in a vehicle and one count of deleting the serial number of a weapon.

The announcement of the charges came following Evanoff’s recent arrest for his connection to a double murder mass shooting that occurred on Friday, October 4, in Redding. Police said Evanoff was found and arrested on Sunday, October 6, in Washoe County, Nevada.

The DA’s office has filed charges of two counts of murder and three counts of assault with a semi-automatic firearm and related enhancements against Evanoff and the shooting’s primary suspect, Andrew Greer-Herrera, 19, of Lookout, California.
