Hoda Kotb‘s youngest daughter, Hope, is making great progress after experiencing health problems last year.

“We are in a place where Hope thrives. She’s doing better, we’re monitoring her, and I think we’ll get better at dealing with it over time, but we’re already seeing big differences,” Kotb, 60, said People in their cover story published on Wednesday, October 9th. “We have really great care, I have people helping us. “I feel like she’s finding her footing.”

The Today The co-host shares daughters Hope, 5, and Haley, 7, with her ex-fiancée Joel Schiffman. Kotb recently moved her family from New York City to the suburbs and found that being “barefoot and on grass” was a huge advantage for her children.

Hope was hospitalized in February 2023 and Kotb skipped two weeks Today Broadcasts to be by her daughter’s side. Kotb did not provide specific details about Hope’s illness, but said on an NBC broadcast that her child spent several days in the intensive care unit.

Hoda Kotb has often gushed about how her loved ones have shaped her life – especially her daughters Haley and Hope. The Today host became a mother when she adopted her little ones with her then-partner Joel Schiffman in 2017 and 2019, respectively. The former couple got engaged in 2019 after six years of dating […]

“Hoda has been very scared for Hope over the last few weeks,” a source said exclusively Us weekly in March 2023. “Hoda dropped everything and focused on being there for her youngest – at her hospital bed – and taking care of anything she might need. Hope is better now and is recovering at home.”

Kotb recently announced she was leaving Todaywhich she has been with since 2008, and her daughters were instrumental in her decision. She told People that she always felt guilty when it came to balancing work and private life.

“I had longings, and you know when something pulls you? It’s like you either walk up to it or push it down and say, ‘No, this is the way.'” “I’m going to stay here because it’s safe,” Kotb said. “It actually makes more sense to stay with NBC. I am financially secure and would have a secure job. I mean, why would you ever not do that? But I was watching my kids and I thought, “I wonder what I’m missing?”

Kotb remains Today until the end of the year, a decision she came to after she turned 60.

“I knew I wanted this decade to be different. I looked at my time like a cake,” Kotb told the outlet. “I thought, ‘I have this much time, now what do I do with it and how do I divide it?’ And I wanted there to be more of it.”

She continued: “There’s the guilt that you carry because you can’t be 100 percent at work and 100 percent at home. If you want excellence, you have to give something. If you want to excel at work, you have to excel at home. And if you want to be excellent at home, I mean excellent, and do everything, something has to give at work. It can’t be the same.”
