Cumberland police issue warrant and arrest for assault

Cumberland, MD – On Tuesday, the Cumberland Police Department issued an arrest warrant for Brian Simmons Jr. The arrest warrant was issued because Simmons failed to appear in court. His original assignment was CDS: Possess Paraphernalia. Following his arrest, Simmons appeared before a district court commissioner and was released on personal recognizance.

That same day, at approximately 2:04 p.m., police responded to a disturbance on Baker Street. When officers arrived, they discovered that there had been an assault between those involved. The alleged victim accused Malik Wimberley of assault.

After an investigation, Wimberley was arrested and taken to Central Booking. He was later brought before a district court clerk and released on $5,000 unsecured bail. Wimberley is charged with second-degree assault.

  • Erie police are asking for the public’s help in identifying arson and vandalism suspects

    ERIE, Pa. – Erie Police are actively seeking assistance in identifying individuals captured in photographs in connection with a number of crimes. The individuals are suspected of being involved in three separate arsons and over twenty reports of criminal mischief.

    These incidents occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning and caused great concern in the community. Police have released photos of the suspects in the hope that someone will recognize them.

    Anyone with information that could lead to the identification of these individuals is asked to contact Detective Stevens directly. The detective can be reached at (814) 870-1514. Erie Police hope the public can provide valuable information to expedite the investigation.

  • Philadelphia Police are asking for public assistance with carjacking on Ridge Avenue

    Philadelphia, PA – Police in Philadelphia are searching for three carjacking suspects today.

    The Central Detective Division, along with the Major Crimes Carjacking Task Force, is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying suspects in a carjacking incident. Two men, ages 58 and 31, were victims of a crash at the Conoco gas station at 1840 Ridge Avenue on Monday around 2:30 p.m.

    The incident occurred when a white Acura MDX and a black Cadillac arrived at the gas station and parked next to the gas pumps. As a victim walked back to his car, a suspect armed with a gray and black handgun exited the Acura MDX and demanded the car keys. The suspect then drove away in the victim’s car, heading west on Ridge Avenue, followed by the Acura MDX.

    The stolen vehicle was later found unattended in the 1900 block of North 23rd Street. Two bags containing approximately $20,000 were missing from the car, as well as the victim’s wallet containing identification and bank cards. Police have provided a video clip, not from the date of the robbery, which can be viewed on the Philadelphia Police YouTube channel or at phillypolice.com/news.
