Princess Anne resumes her public duties after health problems

Princess Anne completed her postponed visits to Hampshire

Princess Anne has acknowledged her commitment to the royal family following a health crisis earlier this year.

The Princess Royal, 74, was taken to Southmead Hospital after suffering a concussion in a horse accident at her Gatcombe Park estate in Gloucestershire.

She spent five nights in the hospital before being released. As a result of the incident, several planned visits to organizations in Hampshire have been cancelled.

A palace spokesman told GB News at the time: “On the advice of doctors, Her Royal Highness’s appointments for the coming week are being postponed.”

“Her Royal Highness apologizes to anyone who may experience any inconvenience or disappointment as a result.”

After gradually returning to her public duties, which included appearances at the 2024 Paris Olympics in July, Princess Anne is back to a busy schedule. She completed her postponed visits to Hampshire on Tuesday.

In her role as President of the Royal Yachting Association (RYA), the Princess Royal officially opened the renovated clubhouse at Warsash Sailing Club.

The newly extended Shore House features a viewing balcony overlooking the River Hamble, a spacious meeting room, two bars and a fully equipped galley.

Princess Anne shares a long-standing passion for sailing, following in the footsteps of her late father, Prince Philip. During a visit to the Isle of Wight in 2021, she revealed she first started the hobby on a Bloodhound yacht.

She is known for sailing with her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, and often cruises around Scotland in a Rustler 44 Ballochbuie. In a previous interview with RYA Magazine, she expressed her love for the sport.

In a previous interview for RYA Magazine she spoke about her love of sailing.

The King said: “For me it is important to have a break and sailing is really a break.”

“It gives you a complete change of pace from whatever you are doing and from my perspective, a boat on the west coast of Scotland gives me two things: time away and in an attractive area.”
