Why you should buy the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6

To be clear, this recommendation is 100% based on the current retail price. Of course, if the Watch 6 costs the same as the 7 or is just $15-$20 less, we’d recommend you go for the latter. After all, it is the latest model and has some notable improvements. The Watch 7 has a faster processor so you get faster, smoother performance, and features an improved BioActive sensor and GPS for better health and fitness tracking. However, in our review of the 7, we noted that these things may not be enough of a reason for Watch 6 owners to upgrade, and we agree about paying an extra $80 or more.

Like its successor, the Watch 6 has an IP-68 rating, meaning it is waterproof up to 50 meters. It is also MIL-STD-810H tested for added durability. There’s Bluetooth, Wi-Fi (LTE is an upgrade option), and built-in NFC for contactless payments, as well as a variety of sensors to monitor things like heart rate, temperature, and barometric pressure. As with most Galaxy Watch models, the battery life falls into the “mediocre” category at less than 24 hours, but for someone who charges every night, that’s really not that bad. And as far as software is concerned, the watch currently runs Wear OS 4 with One UI 5.0, but is expected to receive the Wear OS 5 update in the near future.

We think the Galaxy Watches are the best all-around smartwatches for Android users, and given the current price, we think the Watch 6 is a great option. You get a waterproof, durable smartwatch with a large and bright display, a variety of health tracking and activity features, and finally the latest version of Wear OS and all that It is Features. As long as you understand the differences between the 6 and 7 Series and are willing to make concessions for the savings, you will be very happy with the purchase.
