Tragic pit bull attack: Babysitter charged in death of 1-year-old

In a shocking incident, a one-year-old boy was mauled to death by multiple pit bulls in Bexar County. Serious charges must now be brought against the babysitter. The boy, identified as Jiraiya Johnson, was in the care of 36-year-old Heather Rodriguez at the time of the tragic incident.

Unsupervised children and aggressive dogs – a deadly mix

The coroner’s office has confirmed the death of young Jiraiya after the pit bull attack. According to Sheriff Javier Salazar, Rodriguez was caring for Jiraiya and her 13-year-old daughter when she left them home alone. At some point during the attack, the teen was reportedly involved in a “tug of war” with one of the dogs over the baby.

Babysitter charged with child injury

Following this tragic event, Rodriguez was arrested by the Sheriff’s Office. She is accused of injuring a child and may face additional charges since her daughter was also injured in the dog attack.

A community in shock

The incident sent shock waves across Bexar County and renewed discussions about the responsibilities of caregivers and the safety of children around aggressive dog breeds. This devastating loss is a heartbreaking reminder of the potential danger of leaving children unattended with such animals.
