Stabbing in Israel’s Hadera: 6 stabbed, two critically injured; Police claim “terrorist attack”

An attacker stabbed six people in four different locations in Hadera, Israel, and fled on a moped. All people were injured in the incident, some of whom were in critical condition.

Israeli police claimed that the knife attack in Hadera was a “terrorist attack.”

According to the security sources, the accused was identified as Ahmad Jabareen, 36, an Israeli national from the nearby Arab town of Umm al-Fahm.

Police said the suspect had been located and “neutralized,” without elaborating.

They say he stabbed people in four different locations and fled on a moped. He was reportedly riding a motorcycle when he stabbed passers-by and fled.

Hillel Yaffe Medical Center said six people were injured and taken for treatment, including two in critical condition, three in serious condition and one in moderate condition.

New police chief Daniel Levy suggested that Israeli police are currently unable to adequately prevent terrorist attacks, the Times of Israel reported.

“I would like to emphasize that these days, as you know, the Israeli police are stretched to the limit,” he said. “My heart goes out to the injured, but it seems like we have to deal with this at this time and we have to be strong.”

The attack comes at a time when tensions have increased in West Asia. Last week, seven people were killed in a shooting attack in Tel Aviv. The shooting attack occurred shortly before Iran fired ballistic missiles at Israel.
