Later, a reporter asked Eilish if she planned to come out. “I didn’t,” she replied, “but I kind of thought, wasn’t that obvious? I didn’t realize people didn’t know.” The singer-songwriter then lashed out diversity for “outing” her, adding: “I like boys and girls, please leave me alone, who cares, literally.”

However, Eilish admitted earlier this year that she had “overreacted” to the incident, but said “no one should be pressured to be one or the other.”

fashion addressed the topic in her new interview after noting that “Guess” — Eilish’s most recent collaboration with Charli XCX — “feels like an evolution of something” she started with “Hit Me Hard And Soft.”

She told the publication: “I wish no one knew about my sexuality or my dating life. Always, always, always.

“And I hope they never do it again. And I’ll never talk about my sexuality again. And I’m never talking about who I’m dating again.”

Eilish continued: “I guess I also underestimate how the things I say get blown up into the biggest news in the whole world. This is so unnatural. We are all babies. We are all little children growing up and learning on our own.”

Over the summer, her brother and collaborator Finneas responded to a commenter who called Eilish’s “Guess” verse “predatory” and accused her of “queerbaiting for commercial gain.”

He wrote: “What an attitude little clown. I had to watch for an entire year as the entire internet criticized my sister for queer hating, while in reality you all forced her to come out and confess.”

Finneas was referring to the backlash Eilish received while promoting her 2021 song “Lost Cause,” whose video was accused of “queerbaiting.”

The star sang about a female love interest on the “Hit Me Hard And Soft” single “Lunch” (“I could eat this girl for lunch… It’s a desire, not a crush“). In conversation with Rolling Stone In April, Eilish explained how the track helped her come to terms with her sexuality.

“I wrote some of it before I ever did anything with a girl, and I wrote the rest after,” she said at the time.

“I’ve been in love with girls my whole life, but I just didn’t get it – until last year when I realized I wanted my face in a vagina. That song was actually part of what helped me become who I am, to be real.”

Between 2022 and 2023, Eilish dated Neighborhood frontman Jesse Rutherford for around seven months. In May this year, she called him “one of my favorite people in the world.”

“I plan to never get into a relationship again,” she said at the time. “Of course that’s not true. But no, I don’t think I should be serious with anyone until I find someone who feels really right to me and who isn’t interesting to me at the moment.”

Eilish is currently on the North American leg of her Hit Me Hard And Soft world tour. She will travel to the UK and Ireland next summer and will spend six nights at London’s O2 on this part of the trip.
