Man hospitalized after shooting on East Fulton Street; Suspect in custody

A man is in critical condition following a shooting early Thursday morning on Columbus’ east side.

Shortly after 4 a.m., authorities received a call reporting that a man had fired shots at a residence in the 870 block of East Fulton Street.

Less than a minute later, another call came in from the same location indicating that a person had been shot.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found an adult male in the backyard suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was transported to Grant Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition.

While officers were securing the scene, another adult male approached them and admitted to shooting the victim. The suspect is now in custody, police said.

Police recovered two firearms at the scene.
