Casting for new ITV drama announced as filming begins

ITV, Mammoth Screen and BritBox have announced that filming has officially begun on Code of Silence, a unique and exciting six-part crime drama written by Catherine Moulton (Baptiste, Then You Run, Hijack). reading and hearing loss to create this captivating six-part series.

“Code of Silence” offers a fresh and distinctive perspective on the intersection of crime and communication, delivering a compelling and emotional narrative that, along with the support of a diverse cast and crew from the deaf, disabled and neurodiverse communities, provides important representation for the deaf community represents.

Principal director Diarmuid Goggins (“Kin,” “Black Cab,” “Witness No. 3”) brings Code of Silence to life, starring Rose Ayling-Ellis in a groundbreaking lead role supported by an exciting cast.

Rose Ayling-Ellis is joined by Kieron Moore (Vampire Academy, Masters of the Air, The Corps), who plays suspect Liam Bayne, Charlotte Ritchie (Ghosts, You) as DS Ashleigh Francis and Andrew Buchan (Broadchurch, The Honorable Woman) as DI James Marsh.

The cast also includes Nathan Armarkwei Laryea (The Witcher), Joe Absolom (Doc Martin, A Confession), Beth Goddard (The Serpent Queen, Manhunt), Andrew Scarborough (Emmerdale, Wolfblood), host Rolf Choutan, making his acting debut, and Fifi Garfield (Coffee Morning Club, Deaf Funny).

“Code of Silence” is told from the perspective of Alison Brooks (Rose Ayling-Ellis), a deaf cafeteria worker. Alison struggles to make ends meet. She juggles two jobs, one in a police cafeteria and one in a local bar, while doing her best to support her deaf mother Julie (Fifi Garfield).

It’s not long before Alison finds herself embroiled in a high-stakes police investigation when DS Ashleigh Francis (Charlotte Ritchie) asks her to use her lip-reading skills to monitor a dangerous crime gang. When her interpretation of her undercover conversations becomes the focus of the investigation, Alison finds herself immersed in an exciting new world.

Her role quickly becomes key to solving the police case, but her feelings become complicated when she finds herself attracted to one of the suspects, Liam Bayne (Kieron Moore). Even though Alison knows the risks and the growing threat to her personal life, she can’t let go.

Code of Silence will premiere on ITV1 and will be available to stream on ITVX.
