An Oklahoma-based terrorist has been arrested for planning a violent attack on Election Day. According to unsealed court documents dated Tuesday, 27-year-old Afghan national Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi was arrested Monday after an operation in which Tawhedi met an undercover FBI agent in a rural part of western Oklahoma to obtain AK-47 rifles and enough ammunition for to buy the execution of a violent attack in the USA in the name of IS.

Seized communications, which Tawhedi later confirmed after his arrest, show that he was planning his November 5 attack. Tawhedi also reportedly told authorities that he planned to die as a martyr alongside a youth listed only as a co-conspirator. Google records show he also searches for “how to access cameras in Washington DC.”

In August, the suspected terrorist began liquidating his assets, including property in Moore, Oklahoma, the family’s two cars and other items.

Court documents also show that Tawhedi entered the country on a special immigrant visa in September 2021, a month after the US withdrawal from Afghanistan.
