Tragic hit-and-run kills 11-month-old child on Hummingbird Highway – Love FM Belize News & Music Power

An 11-month-old girl died last night after sustaining injuries in a hit-and-run accident on the Hummingbird Highway. Shortly before seven o’clock last night, 45-year-old Moises Mejia Quinteros was riding a motorcycle with his partner, 27-year-old Kaylie Aparicio, and their two children when they were hit by a silver-gray Toyota Forerunner SUV. The driver of the SUV did not stop to render aid, but a passerby provided aid and took the family to Western Regional Hospital. The couple and their toddler survived the attack, but little Giselle Mejia was pronounced dead from severe head trauma just after 7am last night. Aparicio had abrasions on both hands and knees, while the 23-month-old toddler had an abrasion on his forehead and a deep cut above his right eyebrow. Quinteros suffered minor injuries but complained of pain in his right arm. The incident occurred between miles 49 and 50 on the Hummingbird Highway near the community of Agua Viva. Love News understands the family were on their way to Belmopan when they were hit. We also know that the vehicle that hit her had no license plate and fitted fenders. The victim’s family is asking the public for help in finding the driver of the SUV.
