A man died after a shooting in northwest Fresno, police said

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — A man has died after being shot Tuesday night in northwest Fresno.

The shooting happened in the area of ​​West Avenue and Ashlan Avenue just before 8 p.m.

Fresno police say a man in his 20s shot another man in the parking lot of a nearby event center.

Shortly after the shooting, the suspect called 911 to turn himself in, according to officials.

The officers arrested the suspect and were able to confiscate his weapon.

Investigators are speaking with people at the event center to find out what happened leading up to the shooting.

It is unclear whether the victim and suspect knew each other.
