Woman’s husband arrested for child abuse, charges filed

SALT LAKE CITY – The husband of a woman previously charged with child abuse has been arrested.

Jose Miguel Mora Rodriguez, 33, was booked into the Utah County Jail on Tuesday.

According to a booking affidavit, Rodriguez is being investigated for a previous child molestation case in Eagle Mountain for which his wife was previously arrested.

The affidavit states that throughout the investigation, Rodriguez’s children underwent drug screening, which examined hair follicles for chemicals in the body that indicate the presence of drugs.

During that investigation, one of the two children tested returned a positive result for marijuana, according to the affidavit. The document states: “(The child) was exposed to marijuana so heavily and for such a long period of time that a THC metabolite is still present in his body.”

After examining the children, a search warrant was issued for the home, according to the affidavit. During that search, officers found drug paraphernalia “in plain view” as well as THC wax in the child’s room, which was easily accessible, the document said.

Jose Miguel Mora Rodriguez was booked into the Utah County Jail on a charge of endangering a child or vulnerable adult, a third-degree felony.
