Kamala Harris sips Miller High Life during the Late Show appearance with Stephen Colbert

Vice President Kamala Harris opened a can of Miller High Life and took a sip during an appearance on CBS’ “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” on Tuesday.

“When you were first nominated and named Tim Walz as your running mate, people called it the vibe election. “The mood was all good,” late-night host Stephen Colbert told Harris, referring to enthusiasm for the new Democratic nominee after President Biden dropped out of the race.

“But elections, in my opinion, are won by sentiment,” Colbert continued in a clip posted on his show. “Because I’m one of the old sawyers – they just want someone to have a beer with.”

“So would you like to have a beer with me? So I can tell people what it’s like?” the comedian asked.

Harris, 59, nodded in agreement before Colbert pulled out a few cans of beer of the vice president’s choice.

“We asked in advance because I can’t just give the Vice President of the United States a drink without asking,” the “Late Show” host admitted.

“You asked about Miller High Life. I’m just curious–” Colbert wondered.

“Okay, the last time I drank beer was at a baseball game with Doug,” the vice president said, referring to her husband, second gentleman Doug Emhoff.

Harris and Colbert both took a sip after exchanging “cheers.”

“The champagne of beers!” exclaimed Harris – the brand’s slogan – before bursting into her trademark laugh.

Harris’ appearance on Colbert’s show comes a day after “60 Minutes” – also on CBS – aired an exclusive interview with the vice president in which she dodged questions about the border crisis, couldn’t say how she would pay for her economic proposals and tried to explain , why she has made an about-face on several issues since her run for the White House in 2020.

Harris’ “Late Show” appearance marks her first appearance on a late-night talk show as a Democratic presidential candidate.

According to the broadcaster, this is Harris’ seventh interview with Colbert and her first since March 2023.
