Driver flees the scene after hitting a JCPS bus with stolen vehicle

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – According to the Louisville Metro Police Department, a man fled the scene on foot after crashing into a JCPS bus in a stolen truck Tuesday night.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting on 11th Street between Broadway and Chestnut around 4:45 p.m., LMPD spokesman Aaron Ellis said. When officers arrived, they did not find a shooting victim.

Instead, police determined that JCPS bus #1803 had been struck by a pickup truck. Ellis said the driver of the truck left on foot after the accident and has not been found.

Officers searched the area and learned from witnesses that the truck may have been near where shots were allegedly fired and then struck the bus after it left that area. Ellis said no crime scene was found.

Police said the truck had been reported stolen.

There were nine Maupin Elementary students on the school bus. According to police, no one was injured or involved.
