Gun ban for felons enforceable against parolees, 6th Cir. Says

A federal law that prohibits convicted felons from owning a gun can be constitutionally enforced against someone on probation for driving under the influence, the Sixth Circuit ruled Tuesday.

“The historical record demonstrates a long-standing and specific tradition of the time disarming People who had behaved dangerously as a result of this dangerous behavior,” the chief justice said Julia Smith Gibbons in an opinion for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
