1 dead, 2 injured in three-vehicle crash in Beaufort County

BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) – The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a crash involving a tractor-trailer and two pickup trucks that left one person dead Tuesday morning.

Cpl. Nick Pye said the accident occurred around 11:02 a.m. on U.S. 17 near Bull Corner Road.

According to investigators, a 2014 Ford pickup traveling south on US 17 collided with a 1988 Freightliner tractor-trailer traveling north. Upon impact, the pickup then collided with a third vehicle, a 2015 Dodge pickup.

The driver of the Ford was fatally injured in the accident, Pye said.

EMS transported the driver and passenger of the Dodge pickup to an area hospital.

The driver of the Freightliner was not injured, he said.

The Beaufort County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the victim’s name.
