Vito’s fate in The sopranos reflects the harsh reality faced by those who are persecuted because of their identity. It is particularly difficult for those who work in an organization that is not inclusive. Vito suffered brutal consequences for identifying as gay. The sad thing was when he returned home he told his wife that his lifestyle of dating other men was behind him, further denying his true sexual orientation. Vito was a hard worker and even accomplished more than most members of Tony’s organization. Even though Vito was a manipulator and a murderer, he didn’t deserve to die just because he was gay.
