DALLAS – The State Fair of Texas was interrupted Tuesday afternoon for a fairgoer and a police officer when a startled police horse injured both.

A Dallas mounted police officer was patrolling Big Tex’s circle when the horse spooked, the State Fair said.

The officer attempted to regain control, but a 17-year-old boy was injured and the officer was knocked off his horse, according to the Dallas Police Department.

The teen was taken to the hospital and the officer is being evaluated for injuries, Dallas police said. No further injuries were reported and the horse returned to the stables.
