Mets announce lineup for NLDS Game 2

The Mets announced their lineup for Game 2 of the NLDS this afternoon in Philadelphia, and there are two notable changes to it.

JD Martinez takes over as the starting designated hitter today, which is no surprise after Carlos Mendoza mentioned he would play against the Phillies’ left-handed starting pitchers. And Harrison Bader will start in center field, giving him his first start of the postseason. He appeared in all four of the Mets’ postseason games as a defensive replacement and/or pinch runner in the late innings, with one plate appearance and two runs scored.

Here is the complete lineup.

  1. Francisco Lindor – SS
  2. Mark Vientos – 3B
  3. Brandon Nimmo – LF
  4. Pete Alonso – 1B
  5. Jose Iglesias – 2B
  6. JD Martinez – DH
  7. Starling Marte – RF
  8. Francisco Alvarez – C
  9. Harrison Bader – CF

SP:Luis Severino

Bader’s addition to the lineup in ninth place moves Francisco Alvarez up one spot. The rest of the batting order remains unchanged, with Martinez batting in the same six spots as Jesse Winker in Game 1.
