Week 7 FIU vs. Liberty prediction, tips and odds for today

Week 7 FIU vs. Liberty prediction, tips and odds for today

Liberty goes into the game against FIU tonight incredibly rested. They have not played since Sept. 21 after their Sept. 28 game against Appalachian State was canceled.

Tonight’s contest begins at 7:00 p.m. ET at Williams Stadium in Lynchburg, Virginia. The spread changed quite a bit leading up to the game. While our prediction supports Liberty at -19.5, the Flames are now the favorite at FanDuel at 16.5 points.

Liberty is one of the odds-on favorites to make the College Football Playoff and has Kaidon Salter under center, one of C-USA’s best quarterbacks. He is so highly touted that he entered the season as one of the G5’s top Heisman Trophy contenders.

FIU is now 2-3 and has lost two of its last three games. Last season, they were beaten 38-6 by the Flames at Pitbull Stadium. Liberty is the prohibitive favorite across all of our top college football betting sites.

The following picks are part of our comprehensive college football predictions for Week 7.

Freedom to cover the spread: -19.5 (-105) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Liberty vs. FIU opening odds:

  • FIU: +20 (-110)
  • Freedom: -20 (-110)

The most notable thing FIU has done this season is selling its stadium naming rights to Mr. 305 himself to rename its home stadium Pitbull Stadium. The second most notable thing? Revealing those “Vice U” uniforms.

This is a shady football program that gave Monmouth its first ever FBS win a few weeks ago. Head coach Mike MacIntyre is 10-19 since taking over the program in 2022, while Jamey Chadwell won more games (13) in his first season at Liberty last year.

FIU’s defense is one of the worst in the country – 112th in SP+ – and has no chance against Salter, Quinton Cooley and Treon Sibley. These three have the Flames ranked 42nd in SP+ on offense.

And it’s not like the Panthers can keep up. They scored just 17 points in a terrible Louisiana Tech program two weeks ago and rank 109th in EPA per dropback and 98th in EPA per rush.

Liberty should win this game by several points, I think 45-17. If this is the case, a $10 bet pays a profit of $9.52.

Quinton Cooley 2+ touchdowns (+210) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Frankly, I’m surprised that the odds for Quinton Cooley to score twice against the Panthers are so great – that price pays a $21 profit on a $10 winning bet.

FIU ranks 120th in EPA per rush on defense, while Liberty ranks 38th in EPA per rush on offense. Chadwell’s spread-option attack gives Cooley plenty of opportunities for explosive plays, and he’s sixth in the G5 in runs of 15 yards (7) and 10th in yards after contact per carry (4.38), per PFF.

The Panthers allow 186 rushing yards per game and have given up the 11th-most rushing yards this season (13). Cooley will be a ball of fire running through this defense and forcing tacklers to make a save upon contact.

Best odds: +210 via FanDuel | Implied probability: 32.26%
