1 dead, 1 injured in motorcycle accident in Republic Township

REPUBLIC TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLUC) – One person is dead and another is injured after a motorcycle accident in Republic Township Friday night.

Michigan State Police (MSP) confirmed Tuesday that the MSP Negaunee Post responded to a motorcycle accident on M 95 near Cut Across Road on October 4 around 6 p.m.

Few details were released, but the MSP said the passenger, a 31-year-old woman from Ishpeming, died in the crash. The 37-year-old driver, also from Ishpeming, was taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

According to MSP, a preliminary investigation determined that the accident likely occurred because the driver lost control of the motorcycle. The crash is still under investigation. The extent of the man’s injuries is currently unknown.
