Police say one person drowned at a yacht club in Beverly

A person was found dead near a yacht club in Beverly on Tuesday, apparently drowning, according to police.

At about 12 p.m., Beverly police and fire departments were notified of a reported drowning accident at the Bass River Yacht Club, authorities said in a joint statement.

The Beverly Fire Department’s dive team recovered the body, which was then taken to Beverly Hospital, the statement said.

A preliminary investigation revealed that there were no signs of foul play, authorities wrote.

The Beverly Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office will investigate the drowning case.
