Fatal ATV accident claims life of Seiling man in Woodward County

On Monday, a tragic accident occurred around 10:30 a.m. in which an 84-year-old Seiling man died. The incident occurred near the intersection of South County Road 223 and East County Road 57, approximately three miles south and eight miles east of Mutual, Oklahoma, in Woodward County.

According to the collision report provided by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, James William Cole, who was driving a 2016 Polaris Sportsman ATV, was attempting to tear off a tree branch when his ATV’s left tire slid off a creek bank. The accident ejected Cole from the vehicle, resulting in fatal head and internal injuries. Woodward EMS pronounced him dead at the scene.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the collision.
