Police officer charged with rape, sexual assault and false imprisonment

ABERDEEN, Md. – An Aberdeen police officer has been charged with rape, sexual assault, false imprisonment and other charges in connection with a March 2019 incident in Cecil County.

According to the Aberdeen Police Department, administrative staff were contacted by the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office in January 2024 regarding a possible sexual assault against 33-year-old Officer Radovan Jovic.

The Aberdeen Police Department began an investigation on February 1 and suspended Jovic, who had worked with the Aberdeen Police Department for six years and was assigned as an assistant sergeant in the patrol division at the time of his suspension.

Investigators learned the incident occurred in March 2019 in the 2000 block of West Creek Village. Jovic was arrested on October 7 and charged with second-degree rape, third-degree sexual assault, fourth-degree sexual assault, second-degree assault, false imprisonment and misconduct in office.
