Aaron Rodgers skips Pat McAfee’s show after Robert Saleh is fired

Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers was scheduled to appear on “The Pat McAfee Show” on Tuesday, but his plans changed after the organization fired head coach Robert Saleh this morning.

Pat McAfee tweeted that Rodgers will take the day off and join his show on Wednesday. Jets fans are eagerly waiting to hear from Rodgers. They want to know whether he influenced New York’s decision to get rid of Saleh.

Rodgers and Saleh have had some awkward interactions this season. During the Jets’ 24-3 win over the New England Patriots in Week 3, Saleh tried to hug Rodgers after they scored a touchdown to take a 14-0 lead, but Rodgers raised both hands to block Saleh to stop hugging him.

Both Rodgers and Saleh downplayed that interaction after the game. Rodgers said Saleh wasn’t a “big hugger,” so he didn’t know his coach was trying to hug him.

After the loss to the Denver Broncos in Week 4, in separate press conferences, Rodgers and Saleh appeared to disagree on the nitty-gritty of points for pre-snap penalties. Saleh suggested that the offense’s pre-snap issues were due to players struggling with Rodgers’ complex pre-snap cadence and seemed to question whether they would be able to handle it in the future.

Rodgers was asked if Saleh suggested the Jets might need to rethink their approach to pre-snap cadence, and he seemed to disagree with his coach.

“That’s a possibility,” Rodgers said. “The other option is to hold them accountable. We didn’t have a problem, we had a false start. Morgan [Moses] had a false start until then, I think.”

Rodgers appeared to lose confidence in Saleh, which led to the Jets making a coaching change. Now Rodgers will be asked what happened between him and Saleh and will be asked about his role in the decision.
