Scarface updates fans on the recent health crisis

Back in August, Scarface shared on Instagram that he was hospitalized for an undisclosed illness. “Ouch. Grateful,” he wrote on the podium next to a picture of himself lying bedridden in an intensive care unit.

On Tuesday (October 8), he shared a positive update with fans, confirming what has happened regarding the health crisis. “Six weeks ago I had open heart surgery. Standing tall and smiling today shows you that you cannot play with God,” he said. “I say again, I am grateful. It could have gone either way,” and yet I’m still alive. The Houston rap veteran also shared pictures from the 2025 Grandmaster Awards alongside Kool Moe Dee, Roxanne Shanté and more. The second annual hip-hop event took place on Saturday (October 5) in Las Vegas.

As REVOLT previously reported, Scarface was on the mend after a battle with COVID-19 in 2020.[It] It first attacked my lungs, then my kidneys, knocking them out. My lungs fully recovered, but my kidneys never came back,” he told FOX 26 Houston at the time. “I’m still a little weak.” I don’t have much strength in my legs yet. I still haven’t regained my full sense of taste and smell. But I’m glad to be alive.”

The “Smile” rapper also spoke to Willie D about the harrowing experience. “This is the craziest shit I’ve ever done or seen in my life,” he told his Geto Boys comrade. “I got to the point where I felt like I was dying, bro. I puked so much until it was just hot sauce. Like your flatulence and the shit in your stomach, your acids. I had no food in my stomach, it just came up like bile, brother.”

In 2021, he received a kidney donation from his son and tour manager Christopher Jordan after suffering organ failure. “Pops and I went home after the operation. Still kinda surreal…I love you Pop!” Jordan wrote in a heartfelt post on social media.
