Election changes are coming to the Clovis City Council in 2026

CLOVIS, Calif. (KFSN) — The Clovis City Council passed a resolution stating its intent to transition from at-large elections to district-based elections in 2026.

The 4-to-1 vote came Monday evening after several residents spoke out against the move, citing concerns that council members would no longer support all neighborhoods but only their district.

The council says there are concerns about potential litigation if the city were to remain at-large in elections.

Council members say there will be several public hearings during the district map creation process.

The 2026 city council election will be the first to use the district-based system.
