A tragic highway accident leaves an Idaho man dead in a medical emergency

According to Quincy CHP, 64-year-old Mark McCormick of Idaho was traveling on 395 south of Highway 70 Sunday evening when he lost control of his vehicle. Authorities believe he was experiencing a medical emergency at the time, which caused his Toyota truck to veer into the center line and into a sewer before continuing down the highway until the truck eventually came to a stop .

Drivers observing the scene called 9-1-1 and stopped to help McCormick, but he was unresponsive. After first responders attempted to revive McCormick, he was pronounced dead.

The CHP is investigating the incident.
