Police confirmed Tuesday that two more people – both New York City employees – were arrested in connection with a reported weekend gang attack on former Gov. David Paterson and his stepson in Manhattan.

The New York Police Department previously reported that officers arrested a 12-year-old boy for second-degree gang assault and a 13-year-old boy for third-degree gang assault in the attack on the 70-year-old former governor. who is officially blind, and his stepson Anthony Sliwa, 20.

Two other people, Travor Nurse, 40, and Diamond Minter, 34, were taken into custody and charged with gang assault, police told USA TODAY on Tuesday. Both work for the New York City Housing Authority and police said Tuesday they were both off duty at the time of the attack.

Her employment, bond and attorney status were not immediately known Tuesday.

Former governor and son were walking the family dog ​​during the attack

The attack occurred just after 8:30 p.m. Friday on the city’s Upper East Side and both victims were taken to hospitals to be treated for their injuries.

Sean Darcy, a spokesman for Paterson, said the attack involved people who had previous contact with the governor’s stepson as the couple walked the family dog ​​around the block near their home.

The former governor and his stepson “engaged in a verbal altercation” with five suspects, and after the argument, the individuals punched both victims multiple times in the face and body along Second Avenue, officials said.

Paterson suffered injuries to his face and head and was taken to hospital in stable condition. His son suffered facial injuries and was also transported in stable condition.

Both were released from the hospital Saturday, Darcy said.

The boys turned themselves in to police after visiting a police station with their parents, Darcy confirmed.

Paterson was the 55th governor of New York and the first black person to hold the state’s highest political office. Paterson, Eliot Spitzer’s former lieutenant governor, took over the role after Spitzer resigned in 2008 amid a prostitution scandal. He held the office until 2010.
