Punam previously spoke about the harrowing experience she had while giving birth to her son.

She previously explained how a trip to the hospital to give birth became dangerous as her son’s heart rate fluctuated dangerously and she was in severe pain.

Punam was then rushed to hospital after losing a significant amount of blood during pediatric treatment for her newborn.

Writing for i newspaper, she explained: “I was unconscious and intubated in intensive care, only to wake up days later on different machines, away from my baby and with my body in disarray. The word ‘trauma’ feels like an understatement.”

After being discharged from hospital, the 41-year-old admitted she felt “broken”. She was prescribed antidepressants and underwent cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to treat her postnatal depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Strictly Come Dancing continues every Saturday on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
