Dayglow brings a touch of indie pop to Boston

daylight is a band full of reinventions and innovations. Sloan Struble’s enduring indie-pop project sounds as vibrant as ever with a new, self-titled album that came out last month – a few short weeks before Dayglow hits Boston’s House of Blues tonight (October 8th) – and which is referred to as a debut album Effort after the previous three were recategorized as mixtapes.

“I consider this new record a debut,” says Struble. “Self-titled, big shabang. The last three records showed who I was growing up, who my influences were, who I was as a kid, so they felt more like mixtapes. Finally, Dayglow enters the world in its purest form with clarity and confidence. I want this album to define exactly what Dayglow looks, sounds and feels like.”

We got a taste of what’s new in May with a colorful pop called “Every Little Thing I Say I Do,” which should sound great in a live setting. And for Sloan, that’s the point – even if his sun-drenched project finds its way to our shores in the gray autumn.

“I think you have to see Dayglow live to get the full picture,” he adds. “The atmosphere during the shows is so welcoming and fun. People smile or dance, but it is also common to do both. I think this tour will be by far the best ever. I feel healthy, happy and ready to rock.”
