Jamie Foxx returns to comedy for the first time since his medical emergency

Jamie Foxx’s return to the stage was long overdue. The actor returned to the standup comedy stage in Atlanta over the weekend, where he discussed his much-discussed medical emergency in 2023.

Before Jamie took the stage, CBS Mornings host Gayle King captured the actor’s expression. He filmed an impromptu “interview” with him, which he posted on social media. In the clip, Jamie can be seen standing near people cheering him on. As Jamie celebrated, he was heard saying: “You landed on the moon, man. Be so proud.”

Jamie Foxx joked about his mysterious illness in 2023

Jamie joked and laughed on stage about his hospitalization in 2023 for a mysterious illness that he still hasn’t specified. For the first time he went into detail about his feelings at the time.

The stand-up show was called “What Had Happened Was.” Speaking about it, he said: “It was unbearable because – worry is what gets you. Yes, we have a great show in the room, but we don’t know what they’re laughing at or not laughing at. When you do a stand-up special, you usually go out for a year, work every angle, and then record it. You don’t just show up in Atlanta and turn on the camera.”

Foxx announced the show in an Instagram post last month. He teased that the show will be “full of humor, heart and inspiration.”

Jamie joked: “It’s a personal journey and I hope I never have to do this again… I’ll never go through this again.” My next jokes start with “Knock, knock.” I’m going to make ‘knock, knock’ jokes for an hour and a half.”
