The best gaming and entertainment options in and around Boulder | About Boulder County Colorado

Boulder’s reputation as a mecca for outdoor activities is no surprise given the city’s stunning natural surroundings. But while the first thing that comes to mind for most visitors to Boulder is the hiking in the Flatirons or the panoramic views of the Rocky Mountains, there are also plenty of modern entertainment options in town that allow you to escape the weather on a rainy day for a change Families or a place to break the ice on a first date.

Let’s dive in and look at some of the best options for Boulder and the surrounding area:

The connection

The Connection at the University Memorial Center (at the corner of Broadway and Euclid) offers bowling, ping pong, billiards, video games, board games and more and is a student entertainment center, but it is open to the public. to. With competitive pricing for community members, there are plenty of ways to pass the time on a rainy day.

Boulder Escape Room

Escape rooms are all the rage right now and what we like most about Boulder Escape Room’s three unique experiences is that they are completely customizable. For example, the “The Psycho Killer” experience for children’s groups will be changed to “Escape the Villain.” Truly challenging, sometimes scary and always exciting, the Boulder Escape Room is perfect for office team building exercises, bachelor parties and family reunions.

Fiske Planetarium

While many of us feel the thrill of space through science fiction movies or space games like Cosmic Cash, we can forget that looking at the sky can instantly transport us to celestial wonder. This wonder can be seen at the University of Colorado’s Fiske Planetarium. While there are many educational experiences, we love Fiske Planetarium’s commitment to making shows that blur the lines between science and entertainment. You can also participate for as little as $1 with an EBT or Medicaid card.

Chipper’s Lanes Bowling & Entertainment

Located in Broomfield (about a 20-minute drive from Boulder), Chipper’s offers a little bit of everything: laser tag, bowling, live music, arcade games and food. His live concerts naturally attract an adult audience, but there is also an emphasis on fun for the whole family. For example, on October 27, 2024, Chipper’s will host a family-oriented pumpkin painting day with free admission.

Tour of the Liberty Puzzles factory

The Liberty Puzzles store has become an institution on the Pearl Street Mall, but the company, which makes handcrafted wooden puzzles, also offers a factory tour where you can see where the magic happens. While a visit to the store is a fun activity in itself – it is indeed an artistic endeavor – the factory tour is a great example of how traditional crafts still have their place among modern alternatives.

Tilt pinball machine

Tilt Pinball (located in Louisville, 17 minutes from Boulder) is an old-school gamer’s paradise, offering pinball, video games, billiards, air hockey, and skee-ball. It’s a little piece of gaming Americana that’s largely been lost in the 21st century. Interestingly, Tilt Pinball also deals in gaming equipment (both buying and selling). So if you’ve ever dreamed of owning the old Pac-Man arcade game, then give them a call.

Gateway Park

Considered Boulder’s only year-round indoor/outdoor family fun center, Gateway Park offers tons of activities for the perfect day trip. Highlights include go-karts, batting cages, mini golf, a driving range and an arcade. It’s arguably better to visit when the weather is warmer, but Gateway Park has done a good job of adapting as a venue for all seasons.

PoshSplat

Let’s finish with a unique activity that comes to you and not the other way around. Posh on the Go by PoshSplat brings painting activities to your location, offering tutorials, workshops, painting parties and more. Kids’ parties are big business, but PoshSplat’s artists are also a hit at team building and adult parties.
