Traffic accident on Pul-e Alam-Gardez Highway claims one life

A traffic accident on the Pul-e Alam-Gardez highway left one person dead and 11 others injured in Logar province, according to local Taliban officials.

Officials reported the accident occurred late Monday when a pickup truck collided with a smaller vehicle. The incident occurred in the evening hours of October 8th and led to traffic delays on the busy route.

This accident adds to a recent spike in road deaths across Afghanistan.

According to Amu Television, more than 110 people have died and dozens more have been injured in various road accidents in the past two months.

Taliban traffic officials attribute the majority of these accidents to reckless driving and speeding.

They warned that drivers’ disregard for safety protocols had led to a significant increase in road deaths across the country.
