Is [SPOILER] Definitely dead in Superman & Lois season 4?

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Superman & Lois Season 4, Episodes 1 and 2.

Superman & Lois Season 4 begins with the death of Superman, raising the question of whether the character will remain dead in the DC series. It was long believed that the final chapter of Superman & Lois would adapt the iconic storyline “The Death of Superman,” in which the hero dies in battle with Doomsday and is resurrected at the end of the story. The first two episodes of season four confirmed this, as the Man of Steel ended his battle with Doomsday following the battle’s cliffhanger ending Superman & Lois Season 3.

Interestingly, however, while Superman & Lois Season 4 adapted parts of the story from “The Death Of Superman”. It has many elements and concepts of its own that, when taken into account, make it harder to predict how the series will end. This is particularly interesting because many of the biggest changes relate to the details of Superman’s death, making the question of whether he stays dead – and how he might come back if not – a much more nuanced matter.

Superman’s death in Season 4 of Superman & Lois is difficult to undo

Superman and Lois’ approach to Superman’s death makes it harder to imagine how he could come back

Superman & Lois Season 4 initially seems to show an easy way for Superman to bounce back from his defeat at the hands of Doomsday. After the fight between Superman and Doomsday ends, the mutant Bizarro removes Superman’s heart from his body and brings it to Lex Luthor, who places it in a specially made container. Given Superman’s powers and the Kryptonian suspended animation pod that Jordan leaves him in, it initially seems as if the matter of bringing Superman back would be as simple as stealing back the heart of Luthor and returning it to its rightful owner, who would then return it can live.

However, Superman & Lois Season 4, Episode 2 makes matters even more complex as Lex Luthor stomps on and crushes Superman’s heart as revenge after Jordan tried to save it from him, which now makes things a lot more complicated. While it’s possible that there is still a way to heal the heart damage, given the drama of the moment, it seems unlikely that it will be taken back, which means the question arises as to whether the live-action version of Superman This may be revived has some far less clear answers.

Superman’s hologram appearance further complicates his death

The Kent family seems to have a version of Superman even after his death

Superman & Lois Season 4, Episode 2 also features a surprise appearance from Superman in a way, as a hologram version of the Kryptonian is revealed to Lois and her sons. Superman’s hologram explains that he created this version of himself a while before the events of season four as an emergency backup in case something were to happen to him. The hologram then says that he still wants to be there for his family in this capacity, even if there will only be three of them outside the Fortress of Solitude.

This makes the prospect of Superman’s return seem less likely Where Superman & Lois Since he previously had to bring Clark back so his family could have an emotional reunion with him, it seems possible that this version of Superman could take his place instead. Since the series is continually building Jordan up to be the next Superman, this might even make sense as the series’ endgame, as the final chapter is about how the Man of Steel’s colossal shoes are filled by his relatives. However, there are also some hints about how Clark could come back.

Season 4 has more than one way to justify resurrecting Superman

Superman & LoisThe current storyline seems to show that Superman needs a replacement heart in order to come back. However, it also appears that the heart may not necessarily be his heart, although a genetic match of some form seems to be required, as Kryptonians have different physiology. As such, It is possible that the Kents are able to use Doomsday’s heart as a replacement for Superman’ssince Doomsday was originally an alternate universe version of Superman himself – which would explain why this decision was made Superman & Lois‘ Bizarro primarily in Doomsday.

It is also possible if Superman & Lois Since it adapts the Death of Superman comic relatively closely, the appearance of a hologram that Clark never mentioned but conveniently appears after his death could be a clue to the plot. After Superman is killed by Doomsday in the comics, a Kryptonian weapon called the Eradicator steals his body and places it in a capsule similar to the one Tyler Hoechlin’s hero is left in so the character can drain his energy. Therefore, Superman’s revival could be tied to the hologram’s machinations, which could lead to a truly massive finale.
