Kino Lorber will release the 2023 Canadian drama in theaters on October 15th The boy in the forest on Blu-ray Disc and DVD.

The film tells the true story of Max (Jett Klyne), a Jewish boy who escapes Nazi persecution in Eastern Europe. After being separated from his family, Max finds refuge with Christian farmer Jasko (Richard Armitage), who hides him in plain sight until a tense confrontation with the Nazi police. Fearing for his own family’s lives, Jasko sends Max into the forest, where he learns to survive on his own.

With echoes of Grimm’s fairy tales, Max inhabits a landscape teeming with Jew hunters and Nazi partisans – and haunted by ghosts. Then everything changes when he meets another hidden boy, Yanek (David Kohlsmith). Their extraordinary adventure culminates in the heroic rescue of a little girl, but it comes at a tragic cost.

The boy in the forest is based on the bestselling memoir by Canadian Holocaust survivor Maxwell Smart and inspired by the award-winning documentary Betraying Hitler: Surviving the Holocaust.

The 96-minute film, directed by Rebecca Snow, is also available to rent or purchase digitally on Prime Video and Apple TV.
