It’s a cross-conference battle in the USA that opens Week 7 of the college football season when the Florida International Panthers visit the Liberty Flames.

The Flames are off to a perfect 4-0 start to the year and have suffered just one loss in 18 games since Jamey Chadwell took over as head coach – last year’s bowl loss to Oregon.

FIU vs Liberty odds

The Panthers are a whopping 17.5 point underdog in the CFB odds, and that number doesn’t come out of the blue: Two of FIU’s three losses this year have been by 18 points or more, and Liberty is arguably their toughest opponent yet.

The Flames are 4-0 this year and have allowed the fewest points in CUSA while posting a perfect 3-0 record at home this season.

Salter remains hot as the Flames’ quarterback

Pivot Kaidon Salter, who won the conference MVP crown last season, picked up right where he left off, throwing for 949 yards with a crisp 64.1% completion rate, a career-best mark. He also has seven TD passes against just one interception.

He tore apart East Carolina in the last game, going 19 of 32 for 223 yards with four TD passes and a single interception with the Flames. 35-24 romp, their third double-digit win this season.

Salter also has the second-best rush attack in the conference, which manages 218.5 yards per game.

Quinton Cooley leads CUSA in rushing with 92.8 yards per game, with a healthy 7.0 yards per rush average and four majors, while Billy Lucas leads the way with a 4.6 yards per tote average and four rushing scores of his own Top 4 is.

The FIU defense is a prime candidate for action as it gives up 186 yards per game on the ground and has 13 rushing touchdowns against it.

Overall, the Flames are at the top of the league in offensive efficiency, while the Panthers are last in defensive efficiency.

FIU vs Liberty Prediction

The Flames have not played since September 21st because Hurricane Helene forced their September 28th game against Appalachian State to be canceled.

Liberty is also just 2-6 overall in its last eight games, with all but one of its losing bets coming as a 17-point favorite or higher.

And yet, FIU is not the team you want to use your hard-earned money to pull off a betting upset, even though FIU has posted a 3-1 ATS record as an underdog this year.
